the clown waving his pistol
in the circus of public opinion,
the terrorist cells in the body of hatred
I’d rather critique
the smile of complicity
the handshake of dread
the goddamned kiss of death
I’d rather critique
the conspiracy of silence and white noise
the well-oiled machine of government and finance
the SUVs of intolerance and stupidity
I’d rather critique
the furry cup of selfishness
and the poets of smugness and complacency
I’d rather critique
chemists addicted to seaweed
I’d rather critique
the gross farts of pollution
the blind pilots of patriotism
the platform of caviar and diamonds
I’d rather critique
bomb-sniffing monkeys
and one-eyed corporations
I’d rather critique
the sterile erection of missiles
and the vagina of mass destruction
Because no one does that
and I think it’s high time
someone does
